Zhisheng Huang, senior researcher at VU Amsterdam and professor at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, China, Beijing University of Technology, China, and the Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China, has been awarded for his work on the Tree Hole Rescue Team.
Pablo Cesar Awarded Dutch Prize for ICT Research 2020
The 2020 Dutch Prize for ICT Research has been awarded to Pablo Cesar for his research on modelling and controlling complex collections of media objects (including real-time media and sensor data that are distributed in time and space). The prize comes with €50k, that can be freely spent by the winner to support their own research.

Awesome IT – Call for Sponsors
On April 3rd 2020 the study association VIA will host its 10th edition of their symposium Awesome IT. This is an annual symposium for around 450 students who study computer science, artificial intelligence, information science or one of the related masters at the University of Amsterdam.

Efstratios Gavves, IvI, receives NWO LIFT Grant
Efstratios Gavves, assistant professor of Computer Vision and Deep Learning at the Informatics Institute (IvI), has received a grant for the software development for autonomous cars. BMW is the other partner of this public-private partnership. €240,000 has been awarded and the project will start on 1 March 2020.
