Youssef el Bouhassani (AUAS) Named National Lecturer of the Year
Youssef el Bouhassani (AUAS) Named National Lecturer of the Year.
The prize is an initiative of the Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg (ISO), the largest national student organisation in the Netherlands, which represents all students in the Netherlands. Minister of Education Ingrid van Engelshoven handed out the goblet.
El Bouhassani teaches Applied Mathematics and is a senior researcher in Urban Analytics at the Faculty of Technology at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). Last year he was already elected AUAS Teacher of the Year. The jury emphasises that it is ‘nice to see how he inspires students, rather than just sending information. He uses activating, innovative and creative methods to get students to think for themselves. He combines this with great enthusiasm and an open and committed attitude towards his students. This makes him very approachable. He also shares his knowledge and ideas about education with his colleagues. Finally, the jury is impressed by the way in which he continues to renew his programme and the connections he makes between education and the labour market where his students end up. ‘
