New Partnership between ADS Researchers from UvA Machine learning Lab and Microsoft Research Lab, Cambridge
Amsterdam Data Science researchers from the Machine Learning Lab at UvA (AMLAB), led by Professor Max Welling, start a new partnership with Microsoft Research Lab, Cambridge. The partnership aims to foster new research talent through a symbiotic relationship that will address skill shortages in industry and at the same time preserving and nurturing the knowledge pool within academia.
Through the partnership, Microsoft will provide UvA graduate students with work placement and internship opportunities on unsupervised deep learning and links to causality in machine learning. The partnership takes a new approach to educating the next generation of machine learning talent by encouraging a balance between researchers moving into industry and those continuing in academia.
