Maarten de Rijke appointed VP Personalization and Relevance at Ahold Delhaize

Maarten de Rijke, professor of Artificial Intelligence and Information Retrieval at the University of Amsterdam and director of ICAI has been appointed VP Personalization and Relevance at Ahold Delhaize as part of the company's commitment to Kickstart AI.

Maarten de Rijke’s work with Ahold Delhaize will focus on building intelligent technology to connect people to information. Such solutions include search engines, recommender systems, and conversational assistants. De Rijke’s research focuses on the intersection of information retrieval and machine learning, where increasingly intelligent machines learn from interactions with users. In addition to his work at Ahold Delhaize, De Rijke will remain active as University Professor at the University of Amsterdam and as Director of the national Innovation Center for AI (ICAI).

The Kickstart AI member companies have committed to establishing joint positions of academic staff to enable private-public collaboration and facilitate researchers’ work in both industry and university settings.
