Geleyn Meijer Appointed AUAS Rector

Geleyn Meijer has been appointed Rector of the AUAS. Geleyn is currently dean of the faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries (an ADS Gold Partner). From 1 July 2018 he will start in his new position.

Geleyn graduated in Robotics and Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam in 1991. He was a partner and managing director at LogicaCMG Management Consulting from 1993 to 2011. In that period he was also associate professor at the UvA. Since 2011 he has been working at the AUAS. In addition to his dean’s office, Meijer is AUAS-wide portfolio holder for ICT and education. Under his leadership, the Center of Expertise Amsterdam Creative Industries Network was established.

The rector has the focus areas of education, research, appointment policy lecturers and valorisation in the portfolio and will play a leading role in stimulating and innovating education and research at the AUAS on the basis of ICT.

  • Davide Ceolin Selected as First IAS and DSC Joint Fellow.

    The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and Data Science Center (DSC) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) are joining forces in a new joint fellowship for (teams of) researchers interested in exploring the intersection of data science and other disciplines. The first fellow of the new program, Dr. Davide Ceolin, will start his fellowship at the IAS on June 17. Ceolin is currently affiliated with CWI.

    Nanda Piersma, lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), has been appointed as a crown member of the Social and Economic Counsil (SER). This is the first time that a lecturer has been appointed as member of the SER. Nanda Piersma was approached because of her expertise in the field of digitisation.
