Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences
Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA)
Different research groups within the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences have a strong focus and expertise in data science. Both in the application of data science methods to study and predict behavior, and in the development of new statistical approaches. Each discipline runs multiple data science projects.
To highlight a few:
- the CORPNET research group uncovers, investigates and aims to understand global networks of corporate control in contemporary global capitalism,
- the Methods and Statistics group of Child Development and Education conducts psychometric research into measurement and measurement bias, and
- the Psychological Methods group develops new research methodology and aims to contribute to novel psychological theory.
To educate new generations of behavioral data scientists, we have developed the Behavioral Data Science Master (track within psychology). The one-year program has a strong focus on advanced (machine learning) methods, programming and data science consultancy. Together with ADS we host the annual internship event that aims to connect BDS master students to various companies with data science / AI projects.
