The right information at the right time: Evangelos Kanoulas

The right information at the right time: Evangelos Kanoulas

In cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business

Following his appointment as professor of Text Analytics & Information Retrieval for Business, Evangelos Kanoulas will speak about his research.

Recently, Kanoulas has also been granted a Vidi grant to do further research in informatics, with a project called “Conversational Search Engines”. Searching for information in digital repositories plays a central role in today’s life. In this project, Kanoulas and fellow researchers will develop intelligent agents able to converse with users to accurately retrieve information in complex domains (f.i. medical and legal).

More generally, Evangelos Kanoulas’s research focuses on building artificial intelligence agents to process, analyse, mine and understand the natural language in texts, and serve users with the right information at the right time.

As professor at the UvA, Kanoulas will focus on data-driven decision making, by effectively automating laborious and error-prone manual work on text processing.  In this talk, he will tell us more about his current research projects.
