ROBUST Online Recruiting Event

Are you a student with a master’s (or are almost graduating) in computer science, artificial intelligence, and the social sciences and humanities? Are you interested in machine learning and AI and motivated to use your talent to develop sustainable solutions to global problems? And are you considering pursuing a PhD? Then you definitely want to know more about the Long Term Program ROBUST ‘Trustworthy AI-based Systems for Sustainable Growth’ and the accompanying PhD positions!

LTP ROBUST will bring together 17 knowledge institutes, 19 industry partners, and 15 governmental and societal organizations to develop AI-based methods and tools designed to create social impact and promote sustainable growth. The research agenda of ROBUST focuses on the principles underlying trustworthy AI and machine learning in order to realize the potential of AI to create social impact. Six dimensions of trustworthy AI, namely accuracy, explainability, reliability, repeatability, resilience, and safety will drive the development of algorithms addressing specific objectives motivated by the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).

We are seeking PhD candidates in computer science, artificial intelligence, and the social sciences and humanities to undertake collaborative, transdisciplinary research on the development of trustworthy, human-centered AI technologies. Research will be conducted in small groups (maximum five PhD candidates) ensuring personal attention and a supportive community. All PhD positions will be funded for a term of four years.
