VSAE | Econometric Game

This event has been postponed until further notice due to measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This three day event has teams from more than 30 universities across the world coming to Amsterdam to compete to be named the best students in Econometrics.

Since 1999, VSAE have organised the Econometric Game every year, growing from a one-day, national challenge to a three-day international event. Competitive teams from some of the best universities on the planet have worked on cases helping the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa, analysed the effect of alcohol consumption during pregnancy and ways to estimate poverty levels using incomplete data. The event is truly unique in the quality of the participants and the socially relevant perspective of the case.

For the event, VSAE collaborates with professors and industry leaders to create a socially relevant case study, making sure that the case is both challenging and relevant for our planet.

AE students from the UvA can also participate in the Econometric Game during the Amsterdam Data Challenge. This is a smaller version of the three-day case, but challenging and fun nonetheless. At the end of the day, you present your findings to the casemakers, after which all students come together to meet their colleagues from all over the world during a dinner.

The upcoming edition of the Econometric Game will take place from 1st to 3rd of April 2020. Check out last year’s aftermovie
