QUVA Deep Vision Lab| Five year celebration event

The University of Amsterdam's (UvA) hugely successful collaboration with Qualcomm – the QUVA Deep Vision Lab – will be celebrated on 6 October 2020 at 5pm.

In 2015, the UvA joined forces with world-leading chip-manufacturer Qualcomm to create a research centre in the relatively new field of deep vision: the QUVA lab. Deep vision is a combination of computer vision and deep learning. To teach a computer to see and understand the world around us is a complex and challenging task, but great advances are being made with the help of new machine learning techniques and ever more powerful computers. The QUVA lab researchers look to push the boundaries even further, finding ways to make deep vision possible for mobile devices and the so-called Internet of Things.

This event will mark the lab’s first five years and the announcement of a further five years’ worth of funding. The programme for the online celebration includes reflections on QUVA’s achievements so far, its ambitions for the future, a panel discussion on the AI ecosystem, and a keynote address by the University of Helsinki’s Professor Aapo Hyvärinen.

The event will be live streamed on Tuesday, 6 October, starting at 5 pm CET.
